27. HALL STAITHE

27. HALL STAITHE

Picture
This is where the earliest occupants of the town lived at the river entrance to the town.

The Staithe, or landing stage, was on the original course of the Wensum which was later diverted to make a better watercourse for Fakenham Mill.

The Maltings, now Fitzroy - a trust offering day and community support, was developed over the early settlement and more recently the arch windowed part was demolished.
